How do French road accident claims work?

If you’re a British citizen and have been involved in a road accident in France, then you’ll be able to make a compensation claim under British law. Because the accident took place in France and not the UK, there will be some slight differences in the claims process.

If the circumstances of your case meant that your damages payment had to be subject to French law rather than the law of England and Wales, then a French lawyer would need to be part of the process.

This wouldn’t mean that you would pay any additional legal fees for their services, however, and we’d also ensure you’re kept up to date with their involvement in the claim.

How do French road accident claims work?

As with all road accident claims, evidence is vital. However, there are some additional pieces of evidence you’ll need to have in order to make a French road accident claim. If you have the following evidence, then it will be much easier to manage your compensation claim:

  • Photographs of the vehicle and any damage at the scene of the incident
